Jerry Bledsoe's Cops in Black & White
Part IV of the five-part city legal report is one of its shorter sections. The report was prepared by two assistant city attorneys after City Manager Mitch Johnson and City Attorney Linda Miles ordered them to investigate allegations by black officers that they had been targeted for investigation and mistreatment by "secret police" because of race.
Light Rail And Exploding Pipes
Charlotte's water main leak summer drama appears to have concluded with the repair of a 54-inch main under Providence Road. A gasket failure on the line has been identified by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities as the cause of that leak. The loss of that main is suspected of inducing multiple other water main failures across South Charlotte, including three on one day last week.
Writing Done Right
Most of us are spending a fair amount of time these days cussing when we go to fill up the car. Swearing at the gas pump, questioning the marital relationship of the gas station owner's parents and the like are the norm now that gasoline has hit $4 per gallon for regular. It makes us feel better while we are feeling bad about paying the pump.
